PUBS

The social center for us on tour and most in the UK is the pub.

Hours of opening vary but are longer than in the dim and distant past.

You think you know what a pub is but until you experience the warmth of people interacting over a drink or two, it's incomprehensible how delightful they can be. A pub is about people and conversation, not heavy drinking.

Food in the UK is infinitely better than in the past and you may well gain the odd pound or two as most pubs serve excellent lunches and dinners.

Some UK beers are a little bland and if you insist on your daily Coors™ (the Golden brewey is just up the road from our USA base), it is available at most pubs but so are many other European beers like Speckled Hen. Geoff is an enthusiast for beers.

Wines not available in the USA will delight your palate. Stay with the familiar or branch out for a week. This trip is about relaxation and not a forced march.

Different flavors of soft drink will tickle your fancy but Coca Cola™  is there if you insist.

Brits enjoy talking with their USA brethren but be prepared to have your leg pulled. It's their way of extending friendship.

Pubs not only allow you to become a memory for the locals, they are a refuge you will remember in the years to follow.
